damp areas such as sewers, basements, crawl
spaces, boiler rooms. In the southern states
like Florida where the climate is warm year
round the American cockroach has been found
breeding outdoors.
Food Preferences: Eats
almost anything from beer to adhesive to
dead skin cells.
Breeding Habits: Females
needs to mate only once in order to produce
many egg capsules. Each capsule can contain
an average of 14 eggs. The female drops
her egg capsule or uses a substance from
her mouth to glue it to a surface of a crevice
where food is readily available. She does
this an average of about 10 times during
her life. Adults can live up to 15 months.
